Principles of Design: Rhythm

This week in Interior design we talked about the Principles of Design, and one of them is rhythm. There are a few different types of rhythm found in Interior Design: Repetition, Radiation, and Gradation.
Repetition
Repetition is repeating a certain design or color multiples times in a room.

The repetition in this room is the yellow pillows.

This room's repetition is the picture frames on the wall.
Radiation
Radiation is when a part of a design has a center point an radiates outward.

This shows radiation in many ways. The floor has a circular detail. The table is round, and the chairs circle around it. Lastly, the walls are rounded so they also feel to radiate outwards.

This chows radiation through the arch, the rounded window, and circular table.

Gradation
Gradation is when the colors in the room move from dark to light or light to dark.
The chevron wallpaper starts as a pail peachy color and gradually gets darker until it is the brownish crimson color at the bottom.

Please enjoy the cute puppy in this picture:)
Gradation is in the color on the stairs where it starts as a light blue and gets darker and darker with each step as it goes down.
